Kobe ZAC was founded in 1971 by Hiroyuki Hoshika.
For nearly half a century, IMOCK has been manufacturing its original design backpacks, from hiking gear to full-scale mountain climbing equipment. It is one of the few brands in Japan that creates designs that prioritize functionality, created by mountaineer Hoshika, and is made by craftsmen who make cardboard patterns, cut by hand using blades, and sew with a power sewing machine that has been running for nearly 30 years. In 2020, Takushi Maekawa, founder of the Kobe-based select shop Ranchiki, took over the business, as Hoshika was about to close the doors on the traditions and techniques, and the current Kobe Zack was launched.
Under the guidance of retired Hoshika, young people who have inherited his spirit are honing their skills every day.
